GKN Driveline Alamance was established in 1982 and is one of the largest employers in Alamance County, NC with over 600 employees on a three shift operation. On 70 Acres, the plant is almost 400,000 sq ft packed with hundreds of state of the art precision machine tools, robots and support equipment.

GKN Driveshafts is the world No.1 in the design and manufacture of constant velocity jointed (CVJ) sideshafts – a key component which transmits rotational power to a vehicle’s wheels.

A CVJ sideshaft consists of two joints plus a shaft which enable a vehicle's wheels to have full steering movement while accommodating suspension movement and providing constant torque transmission from the engine, yet minimizing noise, vibration and harshness ("NVH").

GKN Driveline is also the leading independent supplier of high performance propeller shafts for use in passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Europe. Propeller shafts are longitudinal shafts which transmit power from a vehicle's engine to an axle and are used in rear wheel drive and all wheel drive ("AWD") vehicles.

GKN Driveline has manufacturing facilities in virtually all significant car manufacturing countries worldwide and operates research centers in Germany, the US and Japan.

GKN - a leading global supplier to the world's automotive, off-highway and aerospace manufacturers

GKN provides technology-based, highly engineered products to virtually all of the world's major manufacturers of light vehicles, agricultural and construction equipment, aircraft and aero engines. Over 40,000 people work in GKN companies and joint ventures in more than 30 countries.

GKN’s businesses are organized into three portfolio groupings: Automotive, Powder Metallurgy, and Aerospace.
