from downtown Raleigh)
Every major vehicle manufacturer in the world relies on the proven quality of
GKN Driveline components. The
Sanford location is a forging
operation that converts billets to near net shape. The forged products are
subsequently machined to finished components in other regional GKC plants. See
this very interesting operation that relies on world class material handling,
induction heating, hot forming, and cold forming to produce a machining ready
constant velocity blank. Additionally, the tooling maintenance area includes a
multitude of interesting CNC machine tools appropriate to tool steel
applications.
