New Frontiers with Cutting-Edge Technology in the School of Technology at
North Carolina Agricultural & Technical (A & T) State University!!!
On Wednesday October 20, 2010 for the SME Senior Chapter’s annual visit to our beautiful campus, SME Student Chapter # 044 at North Carolina A & T plans two lab tours to demonstrate cutting-edge technology.
Students will demonstrate a 3D rapid printing system and a Manufacturing Execution System (MES). In the 3D rapid printing lab students will make a simple product (no moving parts) on the 3D printing system.
That process takes approximately 2 hours. The students will begin the3D printing process prior to the beginning of our meet-and-greet (6:00 – 6:30 PM Tour).
We will tour this lab first so that you all can witness the last part of the process. Products like an adjustable wrench take much longer. I have one that was made previously that we can use for a sample.
In the Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) lab students will demonstrate a MES complete with automation, robotics, a moving conveyor and Programmable Logic Controls.
