On Dec 6th
we wrapped up the year in style with a fine dinner at Bonefish Grill in
W-S. Besides a great meal among great company, outgoing Chair

Chair Elect), Doug Agner (2008 Sec./Treas),
We also welcomed and installed the chapter officers for 2009. As usual in fine style, Marcus Crotts administered the oath to the new officers and leaders. Marcus, an SME Fellow and life member, is one of the founding members of SME Chapter 82 and past SME International President, is currently a director of the SME Education Foundation, and is still very active in our chapter. Thank you Marcus for doing the honors and for all your support!
Your 2009 officers and leaders who were sworn in are as follows. Please welcome and support them and give them your encouragement and thanks for volunteering to serve you and the local manufacturing community!

This month’s program:
Thursday January 29, 2009 6:00pm dinner, 6:30pm presentation.
At
ISO 9001:2008 – requirements and Changes
By Mario Barbu
The presentation’s main focus is on the changes to the ISO 9001 standard as of its latest 2008 edition. The general requirements of the standard will be reviewed briefly along with some interpretations and examples on how they apply. Most time will be spent on reviewing the new requirements and their meaning.
A secondary point in the presentation is the standard’s intent to drive improvement instead of compliance with procedures. Although certain documentation is required by the standard, its intent is to support the processes instead of defining them. The presentation will review the process thinking and how it applies to businesses.
Time for questions and answers will be allocated at the end of the presentation.
Please Advise Professor Kornegay via email no later than Tues noon on Jan 27th if you will be attending so we can get enough pizza! Senior Members $10 donation for food expense.
